Why Our Writers Do What They Do... →
A bunch of the SB Nation writers chime in here about why they write for the network. Most all of them do it not for the money (they mostly all have other full-time jobs) but for the love of their teams. Nevertheless they are all doing such a good job that their properties are picking up some serious traffic.
All of which is a real indication of the changing face of media …
Found a New Church
Last Sunday we went to Unity Church of Boulder. We’ve been going to Unity churches for the last 5 years or so, so we were excited to have one so close by. Unfortunately, it didn’t fit us.
Today we went to Columbine Unity Church, which is also in Boulder, just a bit further away. It was fantastic: great minister, beautiful building, wonderful music, good kids program. We’re all...
Health Care & Tort Reform →
In today’s NYT, Bill Bradley advocates combining health care reform and tort reform, so that both parties get big wins and find common ground. Seems like a good idea.

Kita Overhears Conversation About Heaven
Lucy: Where were Evie and I during [mom & dad's] wedding?
Evie: We weren't born yet.
Lucy: I know we weren't, but where were we?
Evie: Heaven
Lucy: Oh, yeah. I think we were playing checkers up there.
Evie: You and me? I think you're right! I think I won the first game.
Lucy: I won the second.
Evie: We tied the third. Then I had to go.
Lucy: Go where?
Evie: You know, to be born.
Lucy: Ohhh, yeah. Then I started playing with Noni. I mean, until I had to go too. Then Noni kept playing with [her friend] Ethan.
Interrupt-driven Advertising is Over →
Good post from Mike here regarding comments from Nike’s head of digital ads. Nike guy says: “We don’t do advertising any more. We just do cool stuff.” Brands now just want to create cool content and get that content out … but they want it right in the midst of the content experience, not in some commerical break or side banner.
The Opportunity in Collapsing Businesses
Fred Wilson has a great post today, “What We Can Learn From Mess.” The subject is Craigslist, and how it has collapsed the multi-billion dollar classifieds market into now more or less a single $100M / year business with only 30 employees.
The Internet brings about levels of efficiencies that were unimaginable just a few years ago. We all have to keep our minds open in business to how...
